We are sad to be losing Mr.Burton, as our wonderful principal at the end of this year.  He has been promoted to be the Director of Elementary of Education for our district. He has done great things for our school and he will be greatly missed. We wish him all the best and are so thankful for his love for the students and learning here at East.

April 9th- Happy B-day Thomas- Language Arts Testing
April 11th- Morning Fieldtrip to “ Pirates of Penzance”
                     Talent Show at 2pm
April 16th-18th- Spring Break    
Common Core Update: 
Math- Chp. 10- Converting Units of Measurement
Math Tutoring is available school wide afterschool M,T,W and F from 3:30-4:00 –Library and on Wednesdays at 1:30 with 4-H
Writing-  I’m proud of our hard work in testing!! Way to go!
Reading-Speaking and Listening Standard 1 
Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 5 topics and texts, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.  Class Story-“Frindle” and “Tangerine”
Science- Heredity: Students will understand that traits are passed from the parent organisms to their offspring, and that sometimes the offspring may possess variations of these traits that may help or hinder survival in a given environment.
Spelling/Vocabulary- Lesson 9- words with endings –ed, -ing, -er and -est
***HOMEWORK- The packets that I prepare are very important to support the learning done in our class for the week. Please help your student be responsible for returning their packet each Friday. It is better to bring in a half completed packet vs. no packet.  Non-returned homework = 0/100 points
