              Curriculum Night 6:00-7:00pm

Common Core Update:
Math- Testing Chp.5 Dividing Decimals. Moving into Chp.6 Addition and Subtraction with Fractions
Math Tutoring is available schoolwide afterschool M, T, Th and Friday from 3:30-4:00 from Mr.Jenkins.
Writing-  5 Paragraph Essay - Please practice keyboarding skills
Reading- Reading: Informational Text Standard 5 
Compare and contrast the overall structure (e.g., chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution) of events, ideas, concepts, or information in two or more texts.
Class Story-“The World of William Joyce Scrapbook” and “Tangerine”  Thank you for helping your student be prepared in their Historical Fiction Book Report. We enjoyed the class presentations.
Science- Testing on our Magnetism Unit.  We are now trading with Mr.Greenhalgh- Topic: Matter and Mr.Coates-Topic: Electricity ** Thinking Ahead- I require the Science Fair/Poster as a homework assignment in Science. Start thinking about a topic you would like to learn more about.  SCIENCE FAIR- March 27th
Spelling/Vocabulary- Lesson 19- prefixes –re/-inter** School Spelling Bee and District Spelling Bee news coming.  You can go onto the East Elementary website and print out the Scripps List for 4th-5th grade to begin practicing!!

Science- Science Benchmark- Magnets
Earth and some earth materials have magnetic properties. Without touching them, a magnet attracts things made of iron and either pushes or pulls on other magnets.
Social Studies- The United States Grows
Spelling/Vocabulary- Lesson 18- prefixes –non, -in or -un
